Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) reacted to former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) leaving Congress with a morbid warning.
The California Republican's departure, announced Wednesday, had been rumored since he was removed from his position early in October, but his ally Greene warned others in the GOP's right-wing caucus that they may have tipped the House toward Democratic control.
"Well. Now in 2024, we will have a 1 seat majority in the House of Representatives," Greene posted on X. "Congratulations Freedom Caucus for one and 105 Rep who expel our own for the other. I can assure you Republican voters didn’t give us the majority to crash the ship."

"Hopefully no one dies," she added.
McCarthy is retiring at the end of this year, about halfway through his current term was set to expire in January 2025, which means that California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, must call a special election to replace him.
