GOP women's club leader rants about 'cancel culture' after being removed for praising slavery

On Tuesday, the New Orleans Times-Picayunereported that Martha Huckabay, the leader of the Republican Women's Club of New Orleans, is attacking the greater GOP for letting itself be infiltrated by "cancel culture" after she and her group were stripped of their national and state GOP affiliation following her remarks praising slavery.

"The National Federation of Republican Women appears to be putting some distance between itself and their longtime controversial local leader Martha Huckabay," reported Sarah Ravits. "According to an open letter posted on Facebook by Huckabay, NFRW has not only stripped her of her leadership position at the Women's Republican Club of New Orleans, they also cut ties with the group altogether, as has the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women."

"They identify themselves as trustworthy Republicans," said Huckabay in the post. "However, just at the time you need their support, they knife you in the back. They cancel you. They cancel your righteous agenda. They neutralize your momentum." She continued with a denunciation of "cancel culture" and suggested the whole thing was due to Democrats infiltrating the GOP.

Huckabay drew controversy earlier this year in a Facebook post claiming that slavery fostered "hard working ethics" and "love and respect." She has also spread QAnon and COVID-19 conspiracy theories and suggested that fellow Republican lawmakers were brainwashed by communism.
