CNN conservative buries Trump for doubling down on Charlottesville again: 'Playing footsie with white supremacists'

Republican pundit Tara Setmayer slammed President Donald Trump after he defended his comments about Charlotteville.

In 2017, Trump claimed that there were "fine people" on both sides of the white nationalist rally in Charlotteville, Virginia.

"I have answered that question, and if you look at what I said, you will see that question was answered perfectly," Trump said at the White House.

"At what point were there good people?" CNN's Jake Tapper asked. "Is this the Trump we’re going to see when he is running for re-election in 2020? This alternate reality thing?"

"In Trump’s mind, there were good people. It’s ridiculous. To be honest, there’s a lot of people that don’t want to re-live Charlottesville. And yet, the president can’t seem to let it go. It speaks to his character and how he feels about this," Setmayer said.

She added, "He continues to play footsie with this white supremacist element that’s has been unearthed here. And he refuses to unequivocally condemn it in ways that if he answered it so perfectly, we wouldn’t be here talking about this today. He consistently does this. And Republicans don’t want to see that. They’re horrified every time he brings it up. Why would you want to bring up a low point in your presidency?"
