Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) received quick and intense backlash on Tuesday after he appeared to publicly threaten Michael Cohen on the eve of the former Trump fixer's public testimony to Congress.
Gaetz, a far-right Republican and prominent supporter of President Donald Trump, was highly criticized for committing witness tampering and/or obstruction of justice with his tweet.
There were calls for Gaetz to resign from Congress after his tweet.
There were also calls for the House of Representatives to expel Gaetz from Congress under Article I, Section 5, Clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution.
There were also calls for Jack Dorsey to de-platform Gaetz for violating Twitter's terms of service.
And multiple prominent lawyers laid out which federal laws Gaetz may be prosecuted for violating.
