'Thank you Republicans': MSNBC host says GOP shot itself in the foot with knee-jerk move

Republicans have shot themselves in the foot with a knee-jerk move, according to MSNBC host Joe Scarborough.

The Morning Joe host would suggest Republicans had accidentally "kept this alive" when it came to Donald Trump's links with Jeffery Epstein. He said, "Here's the crazy thing. There's more. Supposedly, this is just a subset of all the Epstein files; that's what reporters are saying. Thank you, Republicans, for releasing 20,000 plus, you've kept this alive."

The bombshell release yesterday of Epstein's emails referencing Trump may turn the "fire" towards the president, who claimed the release of such documents was to distract from Democrat failures. Yesterday, Morning Joe co-host Jonathan Lemire suggested MAGA supporters mad at Pam Bondi would likely shift their rage to the president.

He said, "As a political matter, it's just so interesting because the MAGA world has long believed that there's a conspiracy to cover up what happened with Jeffrey Epstein. Well, now the people who have control of the material is the Trump Administration.

"And so — but yet — the MAGA folks have not turned their fire on Donald Trump personally. They've been very mad at Pam Bondi and [FBI Director] Kash Patel, the FBI director, for what they consider, you know, inaction and not releasing these files."

It could turn into a series of tough questions for Trump, with Lemire adding, "The interesting question is going to be, do these emails or does other information cause anyone in the MAGA movement to start turning their attention to Donald Trump and asking him what he's hiding and whether more information should be released?"

Trump would take to Truth Social and say the Epstein letters are a distraction tactic from Democrats. He wrote, "The Democrats are trying to bring up the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax again because they’ll do anything at all to deflect on how badly they’ve done on the Shutdown, and so many other subjects. Only a very bad, or stupid, Republican would fall into that trap."

"The Democrats cost our Country $1.5 Trillion Dollars with their recent antics of viciously closing our Country, while at the same time putting many at risk — and they should pay a fair price. There should be no deflections to Epstein or anything else, and any Republicans involved should be focused only on opening up our Country, and fixing the massive damage caused by the Democrats!"
