Republicans are "frozen" and still "on their knees" when it comes to standing up to Donald Trump, but they privately believe the President has brought a dangerous change to the party, according to a conservative analyst on Saturday.
Conservative political pundit Charlie Sykes appeared on MSNBC over the weekend, where he was asked about how Trump's tariffs and other policies are playing with his Republican cohorts.
"Republicans are frozen," Sykes said, adding that "they're still on their knees."

He went on to say, "On the other hand, you know, this was one of those weeks where there was more than a little writing on the wall in Florida, in Wisconsin, in these rallies, in the new polls, in what's happening to people's 401ks."
"So I think we ought to continue to assume the default setting is that Republicans will roll over for Donald Trump," he added. "But in private, looking at one another, looking in the mirror, they have to recognize that things have taken a very, very ugly and dangerous turn."
