Rich whites in the Hamptons complain about their biggest summer scourge: Too many helicopters

New York's wealthiest have more pressing things to do than wait in traffic on their way to party in the Hamptons. So instead of driving or taking the train, they descend on the luxury vacation spot in rented helicopters. Or their own helicopters if they've wealthy enough.

"Summer just kicked off, and the helicopter wars have kicked in," said CNBC anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera.

Helicopters flying in from Manhattan have made it a "virtual battlezone," CNBC reporter Robert Frank said from the East Hampton airport.

According to CNBC, there were 6,000 take offs and landings in 2017—one every few minutes—causing East Hampton residents to deal with constant loud helicopter noises.
