Rick Santorum wonders if U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is eating shrooms

Former U.S. Senator and GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum blasted President Barack Obama and his administration during a campaign stop Monday night.

The Des Moines Register reported Santorum took issue with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder for advocating the use of civilian courts to try terrorist suspects.

“Maybe he is eating mushrooms. I don’t know what he is doing. You can’t even make this up," Santorum said.

"It is giving terrorists your constitutional rights. This is truly frightening that we have leaders in this country that believe that."

During a speech at the American Constitution Society convention last week, Holder declared that the U.S. court system was the nation's "most effective terror-fighting weapon," adding that hundreds of individuals have been convicted for terrorism-related offenses in civilian courts without serious problems.

Santorum also attacked Obama's foreign policy, accusing him of turning his back on Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, failing to adequately protect Israel and being too friendly with America's enemies.

“The enemy is radical Islamists who hate us not because of what we do, but because of who we are, and they are not going to go away if we are nice to them,” Santorum said.
