Roger Stone slapped with a gag order in Mueller trial

Trump confidante Roger Stone has been placed under a gag order by a federal judge following his headline-grabbing FBI raid and indictment by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Judge Amy Berman ordered Friday afternoon that Stone and his lawyers "must refrain from making statements to the media or in public settings that pose a substantial likelihood" of influencing jurors," Washington Post reporter Matt Zapotosky tweeted, citing Berman's statement.

The order includes not just Stone and his attorneys, but also "potential witnesses" and their lawyers as well.

Last week, Stone defended himself from a then-speculative gag order by saying he doesn't need one because he is not as famous as someone like Kim Kardashian.

As BuzzFeed News reported later in the afternoon, Stone, his attorneys, potential witnesses and their lawyers can still speak to the press — but cannot do so when entering or leaving the courthouse.
