Marco Rubio is a straddler. A flip--flopper. A man who cannot make up his mind and stick to something. In short, he's an extraordinary hypocrite.
This is the man who tried to win the GOP presidential nomination by waging war on then-candidate Trump. The Florida Republican Senator who swore he would not run for re-election whether or not he won the nomination or even the White House brutally claimed Trump was not well-endowed, (video below) two weeks after claiming he wanted to run a wholesome campaign because he knew his son was watching.
After battling him on the campaign trail, even calling him a "con artist," Rubio then went on to endorse Trump. And then Marco Rubio broke his promise and went on to run for re-election.
Why?
After building his political career on the backs of LGBT people, using his religion to do all he could to marginalize them and block any civil rights advances, Rubio actually claimed that because LGBT people were slaughtered in Orlando's Pulse massacre – a terror attack that was the deadliest anti-LGBT hate crime and at the time the largest mass shooting in modern U.S. history, he was being called to serve Floridians by flip-flopping on his promise to not run for re-election.
(It's important to note that the Pulse massacre of 49 people happened two years ago today.)
Rubio, by the way, claims to be a devout Roman Catholic, but attends at least two other church denominations that conflict with the Catholic church's teachings. Could that be for political reasons?
Marco Rubio "is in many ways similar to other Cuban-American politicians from his home state," as The New York Times reported in 2010. He is a "conservative, Republican and a 'practicing and devout Roman Catholic,' in the words of his spokesman, one who 'regularly attends Catholic Mass' and 'was baptized, confirmed and married in the Roman Catholic Church.'"
But while Mr. Rubio, 39, presented himself on his Florida Statehouse Web site and in interviews as a Roman Catholic, bloggers and journalists have noted since his election that he regularly worships at an evangelical megachurch whose theology is plainly at odds with Catholic teaching.
For much of the last decade, Mr. Rubio has attended Christ Fellowship with his wife and children. He “comes very regularly to worship service” at the church’s Palmetto Bay campus, said Eric Geiger, the executive pastor. According to Mr. Rubio’s campaign Web site, he contributed almost $50,000 to Christ Fellowship from 2005 to 2008.
And while no one cares about Senator Rubio's religion, it's his consistent hypocrisy of saying one thing but doing another that's troubling.
Or, in this case, amusing.
Senator Rubio set out Tuesday morning to defend Trump's disastrous visit with the murderous dictator and despot, Kim Jong-un – by attacking President Barack Obama, his supporters, and the media, of course.
President Obama didn't praise Raul Castro and say it was an "honor" to meet him. And President Obama held Castro's feet to the fire over Cuba' horrific human rights violations. Trump did not.
And neither of the Castro brothers had nuclear weapons, nor did they threaten to annihilate the United States. (The Cuban missile crisis, which was Russia, notwithstanding.)
Rubio continued his Twitter rant.
"Should be skeptical of any deal" with Kim Jong-un, Rubio added on Twitter. "Hope I’m wrong but still believe they will never give up nukes & ICBM’s unless believe failure to do so triggers regime ending reaction."
After noting he's "uncomfortable with suspending military exercises," he claimed that "after Trump bent over backwards to be conciliatory," if Kim Jong-un "does nothing ... sanctions will be easier to enforce & increase."
But then Rubio entered into a major slip up.
So determined he was to defend Trump, he apparently didn't realize that his description of Kim Jong-un perfectly mirrors Donald Trump.
Oops.
