Rupert Murdoch says Ben Carson would be a 'real black president'

21st Century Fox head Rupert Murdoch promoted a Ben Carson interview on Fox News on Wednesday by suggesting he is more black than President Barack Obama.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Murdoch called the former neurosurgeon and his wife "terrific" on Twitter before adding, "What about a real black President who can properly address the racial divide? And much else."

Murdoch's remark came four days after he alluded to a recent poll showing Carson seizing the lead in the GOP presidential field from Donald Trump.

On Oct. 2, Murdoch said pundits were "underestimating" Carson, writing, "[the] public understand humility as admirable, listen to the multi-faceted strong message."

On Wednesday, the News Corp founder followed up his inflammatory remark by directing readers toward a New York Magazine article he said illustrated "minority community disappointment" with the president.

Murdoch likely meant a report which featured prominent personalities like Black Lives Matter co-founder Alicia Garza, former CNN host Van Jones and other discussing the African-American community's perspective on Obama's presidency.

Carson was scheduled to appear on Fox News' Kelly File on Wednesday night.
