Sarah Sanders incenses right-wing as welfare attack ad backfires: 'Hating young white men’

Conservative influencers lashed out at Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders after the Trump ally dropped a new campaign ad touting her new welfare eligibility policy — with several outraged that the ad featured a white man.

Sanders shared the clip Monday on social media. It depicts a young white man playing video games while eating cheese puffs and potato chips.

“Meet Brad,” Sanders is heard saying as the ad cuts to the fictional government assistance recipient covered in food and playing video games. “Brad has turned relaxing into a full-time profession! But you? You actually work hard, you pay taxes to cover welfare for guys like Brad who just choose not to work.”

The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh expressed outrage over the ad’s depiction of a “young white male,” arguing that Republicans lacked the courage “to do this ad with ‘Shaniqua’ as the villain,” an apparent reference to a stereotypically Black woman's name, which Walsh claimed “would actually be an accurate portrayal of the problem at hand.”

Conservative pastor Dale Partridge — who gained national attention this year after calling for repealing the 19th Amendment, which enshrined women’s right to vote — argued that the ad “villainizes a white man,” and former GOP gubernatorial candidate and conspiracy theorist James Fishbackcalled the ad “disgraceful anti-white propaganda.”

Conservative political commentator and BlazeTV host Auron MacIntyre also criticized the ad for “hating young white men,” and appeared to suggest violence may erupt should similar ads continue to air.

“The first political party to stop hating young white men will win for a generation,” MacIntyre wrote in a social media post on X. “And if none of them do young white men will find none-political [sic] solutions which you really won’t like.”
