A father in Midlands, South Carolina likes to fly the Confederate flag on his truck. But when the $26,000-a-year private school where he sends his children opposed his flying the flag when dropping them off, he took his money elsewhere -- and then went to the media.
“This just ain’t right,” Rhett Ingram told South Carolina's KMOV news station. “I felt like it was being taken. It’s like, 'wait a minute – that flag doesn’t mean I’m racist.' It doesn’t mean I hate people.”
Ingram told KMOV he started flying the flag in 2016, but Heathwood Hall, where his 14 and 11-year-olds have been going for years, asked him to to remove it.
"Your flag's not welcome here," the school reportedly told him.
After multiple discussions with the administration, Ingram took his kids out of the school. Heathwood Hall put him on a "No Trespass Notice" at the end of September.
