German Chancellor Olaf Scholz urged people in Germany to "protect Jews" in the face of anti-Semitic incidents, saying it was a question civil courage.
Scholz, in an interview with the Mannheimer Morgen newspaper for Monday's edition obtained by DPA in advance, said: "Anyone who attacks Jews in Germany is attacking us all."
"We will not accept anti-Semitism. We have crystal-clear laws: It is a criminal offense to burn Israeli flags; It is a criminal offense to cheer the death of innocent people; It is a criminal offense to shout anti-Semitic slogans," Scholz continued.
