Scott Walker won't say whether being gay is a choice: 'I don’t have an opinion on every single issue out there'

In an interview broadcast by CNN Sunday morning, 2016 GOP presidential aspirant Scott Walker repeatedly ducked questions over whether being gay was a choice, saying he can't be expected to "have an opinion on every single issue out there."

Since launching his presidential campaign late last week, the Wisconsin governor had been dogged by questions about homosexuality, same-sex marriage, and gays being allowed to serve as scout masters in the Boy Scouts.

After inferring that potential gay scout master shouldn't be allowed in order to "protect children," Walker back-tracked saying he had been misunderstood and that he was only concerned with protecting scouts from the media glare.

“The protection was not a physical protection,” Walker explained, but rather about “protecting them from being involved in the very thing you’re talking about right now, the political and media discussion about it, instead of just focusing on what Scouts is about, which is about camping and citizenship and things of that nature.”

In a conversation with Dana Bash, while aboard his campaign RV, Walker was asked if felt that being gay was a choice.

“That’s not even an issue for me to be involved in,” Walker said. “The bottom line is, I’m going to stand up and work hard for every American regardless of who they are, no matter where they come from…no matter whether they vote for me or not.”

Pressed by Bash, Walker avoided an answer that could enrage either conservative evangelicals  or the LGBT community.

“I don’t have an opinion on every single issue out there,” Walker said. “I mean to me that’s -- I don’t know. I don’t know the answer to that question. So what I’m saying, from an opinion standpoint, I don’t know what the answer to that is."

Walker also said his campaign was doing well because, "I actually answer questions," to which the CNN host quickly replied, “But you’re not answering this one.”
