SDNY will be 'waiting with cuffs' when Trump leaves the Oval Office: MSNBC legal analyst

Appearing on MSNBC's AM Joy, legal analyst and Above the Law editor Elie Mystal said that Donald Trump is desperate to win re-election in 2020 or he can expect to be arrested immediately by investigators representing the Southern District of New York.

Speaking with host Joy Reid, Mystal launched into a soliloquy about what the future holds for the embattled president.

"I hope it is not lost on people is that the Trump Organization, which appears to be a massive criminal front, is so small potatoes that if Trump hadn't run for president, SDNY wouldn't care," he began.

"SDNY cares about stopping terrorism," he continued before quipping, "Putting SDNY on the Trump investigation is like bringing in Sherlock Holmes to figure out who framed Roger Rabbit."

"Now that SDNY is on it, they're all going down," he added. "The key thing from Michael Cohen's testimony, besides all the information he laid out, he issued basically a warning to the rest of the people in the Trump Organization from the CFO Allen Weisselberg all the way down to the secretary: you lie for Trump, you're going to get got."

Mystal also noted that financial corruption charges likely to be filed against Trump have a statute of limitations of ten years and that Trump's crimes that are being investigatyed date back to 2014.

He then added that, should Trump lose in 2020, he can expect to be cuffed by SDNY officials as soon as he departs the White House.
