RNC’s Sean Spicer rails against ‘disgusting, reprehensible’ Politico at Politico-hosted event

Rumored future White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer aired his grievances Friday against the press—and particularly the politics website Politico—at a Politico event in Washington, DC.

“I do have a problem with how Politico has engaged in covering politics, especially on our side,” Spicer told Politico senior correspondent Anna Palmer. “I think it is tweet happy, click bait, and devoid of many facts.”

Spicer also mentioned former Politico reporter Julia Ioffe’s off-color tweet suggesting Donald Trump is having inappropriate relations with his daughter (jokes the president-elect has himself made in the past), arguing Ioffe’s comments were “unbelievably vulgar,” “disgusting” and reprehensible.

Trump, of course, was elected president despite once boasting about grabbing women by the genitals and committing acts of sexual assault. Politico has since severed ties with Ioffe.

Asked about reports that Russia hacked the election in an effort to help elevate Trump to the presidency, Spicer said citizens should ‘blame the DNC tech department” for the hacking, arguing "this wouldn't have happened Hillary Clinton didn't have a secret server.” Despite a consensus among intelligence agencies, the Trump team refuses to admit that Russia hacked the election.

Spicer also gave some insight into what White House press briefings will look like in the upcoming election, suggesting Reddit AMAs and “Twitter townhalls” could replace regular briefings.
