Former FBI agent has an idea for other text messages that could tell a lot about Trump's secret service agents

Former FBI agent Asha Rangappa, who now teaches at Yale University, suggested if the investigators at the Department of Homeland Security can't produce communications on Jan. 5 and 6, 2021, then there are some other options.

Rangappa suggested that if the House Select Committee investigating Jan. 6 wants to know about the behaviors of former deputy chief of staff Anthony Ornato and Special Agent in Charge Robert 'Bobby' Engel, who was the chief of Trump's security, they should subpoena the communications they engaged in during Hutchinson's public testimony.

"Not as good as Jan. 6 but could offer some real-time insight into how they reacted to her account," tweeted Rangappa. "Or have those texts disappeared too."

It was revealed by the Secret Service that they "accidentally" deleted the Jan. 5 and 6 communications in a recent data migration. They received four requests from congressional committees to preserve records on Jan. 16, but on Jan. 25 they moved through a migration process anyway, despite knowing the data wasn't backed up to comply with the subpoenas.
