'I see him hurtling towards the sun': MSNBC's Rachel Maddow predicts Kavanaugh won't be confirmed

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow very rarely gives political commentary and opinion in her show. Typically the host explains complex political events and legal events as they unfold. But during an interview with former Sec. Hillary Clinton, Maddow let her own commentary fly.

When Maddow handed it off to Lawrence O'Donnell, the hosts discussed the recent developments that will likely end in a way that isn't in Trump's favor.

"Given the way [Dr.] Christine Blasey Ford is approaching this," Maddow began. "Given the corroboration that has already appeared in the press in terms of the notes from therapy from years ago, her husband on the record and his recollections, now in the San Jose Mercury News, multiple corroboration from other people again, that all preceded [Brett] Kavanagh ever being nominated to the Supreme Court, given the fact her lawyers tonight are demanding an independent investigation by the FBI so that everybody can be interviewed, so that there can be an independent assessment of what's going on..."

She said none of those things happen if it's something someone made up.

"She is conducting herself in such a way that indicates to me that there is meat on these bones and, therefore, I think Kavanagh is going to have a hard time," she said.

O'Donnell said that if he had to put money on it, he would agree with her.

"The other two big things that happened today is the president established a standard of proof, in this case, saying no one should have any doubt," said O'Donnell. "So, Brett Kavanagh is now under the responsibility given to him by the president today to remove all doubt, all doubt. No one can have the slightest doubt about Brett Kavanagh in order to vote for him, and then Dr. Ford is handling this strongly tonight."

He noted that it's obvious Ford is more in control of this story than the White House.
