Senate Intel Dems want to interview Ivanka Trump for their Russia probe

Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee want to interview Ivanka Trump for their Russia investigation following reports that revealed she was in contact with a Russian attempting to set up a meeting between her father and Vladimir Putin in 2015.

BuzzFeed News reported that Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR), one of the panel's Democratic members, wants to interview the First Daughter both about her controversial Chinese trademarks and her communications with Russian weightlifter Dmitry Klokov, who she put in touch with the president's longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen.

Trump's contacts with Klokov were the subject of an exclusive BuzzFeed report released last week that uncovered the First Daughter's role in the pitch for then-candidate Donald Trump and Putin to meet for the failed Trump Tower Moscow project. Democrats on the committee, however, have reportedly "wanted to bring her in for a while, a BuzzFeed source close to the matter said.

Though Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), a Senate Intel Committee member and the number two Republican in the upper chamber of Congress, told BuzzFeed that he wouldn't rule out having Ivanka Trump testify before the committee. The report's source noted, however, that GOP members of the committee "obviously aren’t wild about" having her appear before them.

The report noted that some of Ivanka Trump's other close family members, including her brother Donald Trump Jr. and her husband Jared Kushner, have testified before the committee.
