With nearly a week to the Midterm Election, President Donald Trump started peddling another lie that he could change birthright citizenship by executive order.
Trump even attacked House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) on Twitter for simply correcting him.
Trump tweeted:
"Paul Ryan should be focusing on holding the Majority rather than giving his opinions on Birthright Citizenship, something he knows nothing about! Our new Republican Majority will work on this, Closing the Immigration Loopholes and Securing our Border!"
A Senior GOP aide told CNN that Trump's habits are hurting and not helping Republicans.
"This is a great way to screw up the message a week before the election," the aide said. "First the birthright comment itself and now attacking the top Republican in Congress who is trying to save our majority."
