Seth Meyers mocks Elizabeth Warren speculation: 'Moveon.org, take a hint — your name is move on'

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) keeps saying she won’t run for president -- but the media and some activists apparently won’t take no for an answer.

“Late Night” host Seth Meyers mocked TV reporters’ inane obsession with the progressive standard-bearer’s potential candidacy Wednesday night on his NBC talk show.

Meyers joked that Warren has been “very hard to pin down” and “evasive” before playing a clip of her repeatedly shooting down speculation about whether she will launch a White House bid.

“No, I’m not running and I’m not going to run,” Warren told NBC’s “Today” show on Tuesday. “I’m not running, I’m not running.”

“Vague much?” Meyers jokes. “Which is it? Get a straight answer out of her.”

Meyers then rolls a clip of her flatly denying that she will run for president, as reporters question her about the prospect from a variety of angles.

“If Hillary (Clinton) didn’t run, you might give it a shot?” one reporter asked.

“I am not running for president,” Warren said in mock exasperation.

“They say you’re constantly saying you will not run for president – does that mean you will not run for president in 2016?” Charlie Rose asked in another segment as Warren looked on in disbelief and then flatly stated she will not run.

“Is Elizabeth Warren from Belgium? Because she sure loves to waffle,” Meyers says.

It’s not just the media, he says – liberal activists continue urging Warren to run.

“Hey moveon.org, take a hint — your name is ‘move on,’” Meyers says. “If you asked a girl to prom this many times without a yes, they would ask you to transfer schools.”

However, he shows a 2006 clip of then-Sen. Barack Obama flatly denying he would run for president in 2008.

“OK, we have to keep asking them,” Meyers says.
