Seth Meyers nails Kellyanne Conway: If running as a woman was easier -- 'it would have happened before'

A series of bombshell sexual assault allegations against Donald Trump has left his campaign surrogates in the awkward position of arguing that he should be losing by far more to Hillary Clinton.

Seth Meyers ridiculed Kellyanne Conway, Trump's campaign manager, for arguing to Anderson Cooper that Clinton couldn't open a commanding lead despite her built-in advantage as the first woman presidential candidate following a popular president from her own party.

"What are you talking about?" Meyers said. "You think Hillary should be farther ahead because she's running as the first female president? If running as the first female president was an advantage, it probably would have happened before 2016."

Trump's supporters have been trying to spin every negative story about the Republican presidential nominee as a positive.

"I'm pretty sure now matter how badly Trump does on Election Day, he's still going to give a victory speech," Meyers said, adopting a Trump impersonation. "'People said an outsider couldn't win in this country, but tell that to Mississippi.'"

Trump has been lashing out like a wounded badger as sex assault allegations and negative reports about his business dealings pile up around him.

Meyers said the GOP nominee attacked "virtually all aspects of our democratic system" during a "paranoid" speech Thursday in Palm Beach, Florida, and again called "honestly" for Clinton to be jailed -- which his own running mate had dismissed as a "quip" earlier this week.

"Take it from the expert on quips, Mike Pence," Meyers said. "He just doesn't seem like a jokester to me. I get the feeling that if you went up to Mike Pence and said, pull my finger, he'd rip it off your hand and beat you to death with it."
