'Should never rented to the f*ggots': Kentucky city councilwoman evicts couple for being gay

Nearly a year after Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis emerged from prison for refusing to do her job as mandated by a judge, Manchester City Council Member Esther Thompson is taking her own stand against same-sex marriage.

Joshua Melton told WYMT that Thompson, his landlady, revealed her prejudice when "she said she should have never rented to the f*ggots."

Though WYMT didn't find a formal eviction notice filed with city offices, a complaint was filed after the eviction seeking $2,500 from the renters. She claims the couple violated their lease by having six dogs inside the apartment.

"In my 30 years in the rental property business, this is by far one of the worst I have seen," Thompson wrote in the claim below.

"There were three dogs. Chihuahuas that we've had forever and she knew that we had them. The carpet was not destroyed," Melton clarified.

The Kentucky Equality Federation is representing the couple in their complaint as well as a charge that Thompson assaulted Melton while evicting the couple.

"During the illegal eviction, an emergency room visit was necessary for Joshua L. Melton due to a head injury sustained after being struck by City Council Member Esther Thompson, who also stated to witnesses that 'she owned the police,'" Kentucky Equality Federation said in a statement.

When WYMT called Thompson to ask for comment, she hung up the phone.
