After days of spinning the Signal group chat fiasco embroiling the Trump administration this week, Fox News host Will Cain on Thursday turned the tables on the Cabinet officials involved in the colossal national security error, including his former TV colleague Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Cain on his show Thursday walked viewers through "unanswered questions" still lingering in the aftermath of The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg’s bombshell report, including asking viewers what “ethical obligation” the journalist had in the ordeal.
But then it came time for Cain to delve into “his second observation,” one he said was of “grave national import.”
“I’ve had a long and ongoing debate with the secretary of defense about the use of emojis,” Cain said on Thursday. “So I did have some questions when I saw this in the group chat: punch, American flag, fire emoji. Or Steve Witkoff: prayer hands, biceps, American flag.”
“I just have a simple question, no criticism, an open question for you and everyone watching and the cabinet members: Emojis? Is that masculine?”

The Fox News host teasingly jabbed National Security Adviser Mike Waltz for responding to Hegseth’s announcement of the start of the bombing with a triple emoji: punch, American flag, fire emoji.
“I know that the national security adviser will not be upset, and it is one of open debate that I’ve had with the secretary of defense,” Cain told his guests, the hosts of the “Ruthless” podcast.
Cain concluded the great emoji debate by revealing to his audience that he does indeed partake in the use of emojis “from time to time.”
But, he added, “every time I do, I question myself and feel a little more insecure.”
