Special counsel Mueller subpoenas Paul Manafort's ex-attorney and spokesperson: report

Special counsel Robert Mueller has subpoenaed the former attorney and current spokesperson for Paul Manafort, CNN is reporting.

According to the report, subpoenas have been issued requesting documents and testimony from Melissa Laurenza -- an attorney with the Akin Gump law firm -- and from Jason Maloni, who is Manafort's spokesman.

Manafort is under investigation for possible tax and financial crimes with the focus on his work for the former ruling party in Ukraine.

According to the report, subpoenas have not been sent to WilmerHale, the law firm currently representing Manafort.
