Conservative economist Stephen Moore, a former adviser to President Donald Trump, admitted that his wife returns from the grocery store "really angry" about food prices.
During a Tuesday appearance on "The Charlie Kirk Show," a viewer emailed in to complain about Moore's rosy view of the economy.
"It's food, Stephen!" the viewer insisted. "Go to the grocery store and tell me the economy is great."
"Yeah, no, look, I get that all the time, even from my wife," Moore responded. "My wife says, you know, she goes to the grocery store. She comes back really angry about, you know, the price of steak used to cost, you know, $12, and now it's $20, $25. So I get it. I feel your pain, folks."
Moore, however, argued that the economy was "headed in the right direction, but I understand people are angry when they come back from the grocery store."
"Trump keeps saying I'm going to bring prices down," he noted. "What he meant to say is I'm going to bring the rate of inflation down."
