According to a longtime — and now former — friend of Donald Trump, the president has a makeup routine designed to obscure a very unhealthy-looking skin tone.
Anthony Scaramucci, who was part of Trump's first administration in 2017 based on his friendship with Trump during his real estate development days, lasted just 11 days after getting into a spat with colleagues and then experiencing a falling out with the president.
In an interview with The Times of London, Scaramucci said that his "old-school Italian" makeup artist mom hates Trump's signature orange hue.
"She hates Trump's makeup," he said. "It's like an orange bronzer he buys from a supply shop in the Bronx."
He then admitted, "He looks like an open can of Spam without makeup."
When asked whether this meant he had seen Trump, now 80, without makeup, Scaramucci admitted he had, explaining to the Times, "Oh, yeah. He puts it on in the morning. Sometimes he reapplies it at night. It's a tanner. He thinks it looks fantastic, by the way."
This tracks with a segment on ABC's "The View" from 2024, where host Anna Navarro remarked upon the visible lines where the president's makeup ended and his true color began.
Navarro joked at that time, "But I want to show the Trump campaign. This is a makeup sponge. You use it to blend because I think the biggest border crisis that Donald Trump is encountering at the moment is the border between his real skin and his bronze skin."
