Steve Bannon ordered to surrender his passport while he awaits trial
Indicted Trump ally Steve Bannon has been ordered to turn over his passport ahead of his trial for criminal contempt charges.
Politico's Kyle Cheney reports that the court has ordered Bannon to surrender his passport ahead of his trial as a way to prevent him from trying to evade justice.
Cheney also reports that Bannon "will be required to submit to court supervision as he awaits trial, with provisions that include checking in with a pretrial services officer weekly."
Although Bannon has to surrender his passport, he is not scheduled to be formally arraigned until Thursday, November 18th.
Bannon was indicted late last week on criminal contempt charges after he completely refused to comply with a congressional subpoena from the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th riots at the United States Capitol building.
Although many Trump allies and former Trump officials have been less than cooperative so far, Bannon is the only one who at the moment is facing criminal charges.
