'Stop using our video to mislead Americans’: Weather Channel slams Breitbart on climate change denial

Breitbart News last week used one of the Weather Channel's videos to mislead its readers into believing that climate change is a hoax -- and now the normally non-political channel is striking back.

In a video posted on Tuesday, the Weather Channel's Kait Parker blasted Breitbart for misleading readers about changes in global temperature -- and she reiterated the basic facts that the Earth is not actually cooling.

"They used a completely unrelated video about La Nina -- with my face in it -- to attempt to back [up] their point," Parker said, before delivering a point-by-point rebuttal of every argument made in the Breitbart piece.

Among other things, Parker shredded Breitbart's claim that global temperatures have "plummeted" by 1 degree Celsius this year.

It turns out that this claim was based solely on "one satellite-based estimate of temperatures above land areas in the lower atmosphere," which is not the most reliable way to measure temperature trends. In fact, if you look at ocean surface temperatures -- which are more relevant since 70% of the planet is covered in water -- and combine them with land temperature measurements, "you actually get a record high."
