Stunned Fox News host Shep Smith nearly breaks down as Trump attacks John McCain 'in the grave'

Fresh off his own criticisms from the president, Fox News' Shep Smith called out Donald Trump for his repeated attacks against the late John McCain.

Discussing the sharp rebuke from Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-GA), who said that Trump "deserves a whipping" in comments shared with The Bulwark, Smith noted that the president "renewed attacks against John McCain" by "attacking him in the grave."

The host noted that during a Tuesday press conference with Brazil's controversial far-right president Jair Bolsonaro, Trump said he was "never a fan of John McCain's and never will be."

Later in the hour, Smith responded live after Trump again trashed McCain during an Ohio rally, saying he gave McCain "the kind of funeral he wanted" and criticizing the beloved senator for voting against the appeal of the Affordable Care Act and handing over the "phony" Steele dossier to the FBI instead of the White House.

"You know, he brings it up sometimes on his own," the host noted.
