Teenage Trump watched his racist dad refuse to 'rent to n*ggers,' ex-employee claims

While Donald Trump has repeatedly come under fire for making racist remarks, it seems like he got early lessons on the topic of race baiting from his own father.

The New York Daily News has posted an interview with Stanley Leibowitz, a former employee of Fred Trump, who says his former boss used racial slurs to disparage black people who applied to be tenants in his buildings.

Leibowitz tells the Daily News that in 1963, a black woman named Maxine Brown applied to live in one of Trump's apartments in Wilshire. Trump told Leibowitz to disregard Brown's application, even though at the time she had both perfect credit and full-time employment as a registered nurse.

"I asked him, ‘What do you want me to do with this application?'" Leibowitz recalls. "He said, ‘You know I don’t rent to n*ggers. Put it in your desk drawer.’ Donald was alongside of him. He was maybe 16, 17 years old at the time. He was learning the business of his father. He was right at his side."

Young Donald had no reaction to hearing his father using racial slurs like this, Leibowitz claims.

Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks tells the Daily News that Leibowitz's claim is "categorically false" and "totally unsubstantiated." She also said that it would be unfair to judge Donald Trump for his actions even if the claim were true since he "would have been 16 years old at the time."
