'Why would I tell you?' Trump defiantly refuses to say if he's sending FBI to investigate Saudi journalist

President Donald Trump on Wednesday refused to say if he had sent the FBI to investigate the alleged death of Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist who is believed to have died at the hands of operatives from Saudi Arabia.

During remarks to reporters at the White House, Trump revealed that he had asked Turkey to hand over any video of Khashoggi, who went missing after a visit to the Saudi consulate.

"Why not send the FBI?" the president was asked.

"He's not an American citizen," Trump said, ignoring the fact that Khashoggi is a legal resident of the United States.

"And you don't know if we have or not," the president added. "Maybe we have... I'm not telling you. Why would I tell you?"
