Virginia Republicans ripped as ‘beyond disturbing’ for pledging allegiance to flag flown on Jan 6

The Republican nominee for governor in November's election in Virginia did not attend Steve Bannon's rally for the GOP ticket on Wednesday, but was drawn into the debate over former President Donald Trump despite his absence.

Dave Weigel and Laura Vozzella of The Washington Post both report attendees at the rally pledged allegiance to a flag that was flown on January 6th, the day Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in an effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election, which was won by Joe Biden.

Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic Party nominee in the race, blasted the display as "beyond disturbing."

"Glenn Youngkin was endorsed again tonight by Donald Trump at a rally where attendees pledged allegiance to a flag flown at the deadly January 6th insurrection. Beyond disturbing, this is sick. And Glenn is honored to have Trump's endorsement," McAuliffe wrote.
