The Romney Campaign is Lying about the Detroit Auto Industry Bailout

Over the weekend, a campaign spokesperson for the Romney campaign said the following:

"[Romney's] position on the bailout was exactly what President Obama followed. I know it infuriates them to hear that.... The only economic success that President Obama has had is because he followed Mitt Romney's advice."

This is a lie. It's a lie. And while it is expected that Mitt Romney is going to lie about every fucking thing, that does not excuse the media's attempt to portray this as anything but a fucking lie.

Here's what Romney said about the GM Bailout:

LET.DETROIT.GO.BANKRUPT. That's what he said.

I don't want to read a 750 word opus about Romney's lie. I don't need a "short history" of his change in positions. I don't want to read about how calling it a lie is too harsh because yadda yadda and blah blah blah.  I don't want to hear about that one time Obama said or did this or that.

Mitt Romney is a liar.

So much so, that Steve Benen has 15 volumes of Mitt Romney's lies categorized and linked for easy reference. Fifteen volumes.

Not only is Mitt Romney a liar, he's a serial liar. He repeats the same fucking lies week in and week out with such regularity that one can draw no other conclusion than this: Mitt Romney is willfully and knowingly lying to the American people in an attempt to win this election, and the media is letting him.

When is the media going to stop allowing itself to be played for fools by blindly parroting this man's lies ad nauseum? When is the media going to stop the bullshit "both sides do it" false equivalency game?

MITT IS A LIAR. CALL HIM OUT ON IT.

And yes, I'm cranky.  But that doesn't change the fact that Mitt Romney is a fucking liar.
