The idea that houses don’t sell in the dead of winter was proven wrong when a home in West Orange, N.J., not only sold quickly, but for $120,000 more than its asking price.
The four bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom extended split level was listed Jan. 13 for $600,000.
It was under contract by Feb. 2 for $720,000.
“I wasn’t trying to underprice it,” said Andrew Allen of Compass in Morristown. “I was trying to create urgency.”
Comparable home sales in the area were $635,000 to “maybe $650,000, pushing it,” he said.
