Thousands of FBI agents just had their personal information stolen and published by hackers: report

On Friday, TechCrunch reported that hackers gained access to three websites associated with the FBI National Academy Association.

The hackers reportedly penetrated the sites through security flaws, downloaded each of their web servers, and posted the data to their own website. Some 4,000 agents' personal information was exposed, including "member names, a mix of personal and government email addresses, job titles, phone numbers and their postal addresses."

The FBINAA has chapters around the United States, committed to promoting law enforcement training at the FBI's academy in Quantico, Virginia.

In a statement to TechCrunch, one of the hackers boasted about having breached 1,000 sites: "Now we are structuring all the data, and soon they will be sold."

The hacker admitted the breach could "probably" put law enforcement officials at risk.
