President Donald Trump's Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick, is too dumb to keep any possible Jeffrey Epstein cover-up going, argued former GOP spokesperson and strategist Tim Miller in an MSNBC discussion with anchor Nicolle Wallace and reporter Tara Palmeri — as exemplified by his recent comments about his own visits to Epstein's residence.
This came during a discussion about Democratic lawmakers dropping a reveal of a handful of Epstein documents, which show tech billionaires Elon Musk and Peter Thiel, as well as Trump associate Steve Bannon, were all named in Epstein's itineraries in the 2010s.
"A couple thoughts about this ... this wasn't 2003 or whatever," said Miller. "He'd already been arrested for sex trafficking minors in 2017 and 2019, when these guys were going to hang out with him. So they chose to do that. So you don't have to do the whole thing like, well, we don't know if there's any, you know, allegations of bad behavior. Just hanging out with this person and giving credibility to this person after he's already been convicted of sex trafficking minors is bad enough."
"The other thing I want to say about Lutnick — and this is going to maybe seem like a low blow, but it's kind of an important low blow — is that the Commerce secretary is really stupid," said Miller. "Like in a Cabinet of dumb people, like where you have a weekend talk show host and a fake wrestling executive, he stands out as the dumbest. And if you polled the Cabinet, they would all say that he's the dumbest based on reporting."
The reason that matters, Miller continued, is that "sometimes dumb people just don't know how to cover up, you know, how to stay in line with the talking points. All Lutnick is saying here is just the obvious truth, right? ... Like Lutnick just, it isn't clicking with him like he needs to, to go along with the plan as far as part of this cover-up, right, that he needs to be saying these farcical lies that Kash Patel and Pam Bondi and Donald Trump and J.D. Vance are saying."
"It's obvious that there is some kind of co-conspirator," he added. "And to Tara's point, it's like, just the scale of the number of women. It's just not physically possible for it to have been just Jeffrey Epstein, right? And we know all these people went to the island after he was convicted. We know all this. And so all Lutnick is doing is, he's just being dumb enough to say the obvious truth, which is that my fellow Cabinet members and the President of the United States I worked for are covering up something related to this sex trafficking ring. And so we appreciate him for just telling us that."
