Donald Trump's border czar, former Immigrations and Customs Enforcement chief Tom Homan, delivered a threatening message Wednesday to blue states and cities on Newsmax: there will be retribution if you get in the way of Trump's mass deportation plans.
"I'll tell you this: They don't have to help us, but they need to get the hell out of the way because we're coming and we're going to do it," said Homan. "Which means if I've got to send twice as many resources into a sanctuary city, twice as many agents, that's exactly what I'm going to do. And I've been saying for the last several days, they need to study the law. They can not help, but don't impede us, and don't cross certain lines."
"There's a statute under Title 8, United States Code 1324, that talks about harboring or concealing an illegal alien, knowingly harboring and concealing an illegal alien from ICE," he added. "They need to read that statute and become familiar with it, because if they cross that line, there will be consequences."

The term "sanctuary city" has no formally defined meaning under American law, but it is generally used to refer to jurisdictions that discourage using local law enforcement resources to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.
These laws don't obstruct federal officials or "harbor" fugitive immigrants, as Homan is warning against, but do prevent the federal government from commandeering their own police for immigration missions, which the Supreme Court has upheld as their right.
Homan sparked outrage before the election by suggesting Trump could deport entire families of immigrants "together," including children who were born on U.S. soil — and are therefore U.S. citizens. Earlier this week, he laughed at the idea the U.S. government would deport citizens, even though he himself appeared to open that door.
