President Donald Trump's border adviser Tom Homan was confronted by reporters about the incident with Customs and Border Protection that shut off airspace around El Paso, Texas — but he didn't have any answers to give on the subject.
"Sorry to go a littleoff topic here, but can youconfirm that CBP actually hit aparty balloon instead of adrone with laser during theincident in El Paso?" asked a reporter. "And whywasn't that action coordinatedwith the FAA?"
"I have no information onthat. It's out of my league," replied Homan.
The question came during an announcement that the Department of Homeland Security would be drawing down operations in Minneapolis, after weeks of crackdowns and protests that shocked the nation.
