The white supremacist website The Daily Stormer—run by avowed neo-Nazi/Internet troll Andrew Anglin—is known for spreading racist rhetoric cloaked in memes and self-referential irony. And, according to the website’s style guide, published Wednesday by the Huffington Post, writers for the site are expected to post accessible content that speaks to the Nazi-next-door in order “to spread the message of nationalism and anti-Semitism to the masses.”
As the Huffington Post’s Ashley Feinberg explains, the Stormer pays writers $14.88 an article, which apparently is a thinly veiled reference to to the sayings, “we must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children,” and “Heil Hitler.”
Included in the style guide is advice on how to weave block quotes from trusted media sources through a piece of neo-Nazi propaganda “to co-opt the perceived authority of the mainstream media.”
“The contrast between the mainstream writing style and our own humorous, snarky style can be funny,” the style guide ads (emphasis added).
According to its own guide, The Daily Stormer was modeled off “successful liberal blogs” like the now-defunct Gawker because they “appeal to the same age demographic” the site hopes to recruit from. It also encourages writers to link to the social media pages of “some enemy Jew/feminist,” which apparently gives the site “press attention.”
Most importantly, the document lays out what is and isn’t okay to use: “’N****r’ is okay to use sometimes, but shouldn’t be used constantly” while “Negro,” “Monkey,” “Ape,” “Kike,” Beaner,” “and others” are “allowed and advisable.” For women, “slut, whore, bitch, harlot, trollop, slag and skag” are all acceptable monikers.
The style guide makes it clear that the site’s goal is to indoctrinate readers who are “first drawn in by curiosity or naughty humor” while they “slowly [awaken] to reality.” It encourages would-be contributors to read Hitler’s Mein Kampf, Volume I, Capter VI, and “blame the jews for everything.”
“The tone of the site should be light,” the guidelines read. “Most people are not comfortable with material that comes across as vitriolic, raging, non-ironic hatred.”
Of course, as the document notes, “this is obviously a ploy and I actually do want to gas kikes.”
