Treasury secretary begs audience not to give Trump hard questions: 'Don't ask him about regulations, please'

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin encouraged an audience on Wednesday not to ask President Donald Trump questions about regulation.

At a White House conference on opportunity zones, Mnuchin explained that the president was running behind schedule.

"I'm the warm-up act for the president," Mnuchin said. "He's running a little bit late."

"Don't ask him regulations questions, please," the Treasury secretary added.

Possibly sensing that he might have crossed a line, Mnuchin added: "But he is a builder!"

The president, however, spoke to the audience and then left the room without taking questions.
