A former federal prosecutor slammed the Trump administration on Thursday for its recent moves in court related to the Jeffrey Epstein files.
President Donald Trump's administration has made court filings to disclose transcripts of grand jury testimony, but judges have prevented the administration from doing so because the documents do not reveal new information. This is happening at a time when the administration is supposed to turn over Epstein file records to Congress on Friday, which has raised questions about whether any new information will be disclosed.
Glenn Kirschner, a former assistant U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C., joined progressive YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen on his podcast, "The Legal Breakdown," to discuss the court filings.
"This is nothing more than a reality show gone bad," Kirschner said.
Kirschner broke down a judicial opinion from Judge Richard Berman of the Southern District of New York, who is hearing the case. In it, the judge argued that the Trump administration has more than 100,000 pages of Epstein's documents and accused the Justice Department of trying to create a "diversion" from their decision not to release the entire scope of the files, as the administration promised.
"To sum that up, this judge calls out the Department of Justice and Pam Bondi as trying to basically put a smoke screen out there, a diversion, because there's nothing of consequence in the grand jury files," Kirschner said.
