President Donald Trump made an ominous threat while speaking to reporters outside the White House before boarding Marine One.
Trump told reporters that there is a "radical left group of lunatics" that needs to be addressed. His comments come a day after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was murdered at Utah Valley University while he was giving a speech.
"I am only concerned for our country," Trump said. "We have a great country, but we have a radical left group out there, and we're going to get that problem solved. I am only concerned for the country."
Kirk's murder was widely condemned on both sides of the political aisle, with Trump and former presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden condemning the tragedy.
The event also set off a firestorm within the right-wing media sphere. Some MAGA stars like Steve Bannon and Jack Posobiec vowed the exact "retribution" for Kirk's slaying. Other right-wing media personalities have openly speculated about a national divorce.
Trump told reporters on Thursday that he wanted his supporters to react to Kirk's killing nonviolently.
"[Kirk] was an advocate of nonviolence," Trump said. "That's the way I would like to see people respond."
