President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for an investigation and arrests after he suffered a perceived "triple sabotage" during his recent visit to the United Nations.
Trump gave a speech at the UN on Tuesday, where he told foreign leaders that their countries are "going to hell" because of migration. Trump and his team ran into some issues ahead of the speech, such as an escalator shutting off right as Trump and First Lady Melania Trump got on it. Trump also complained that world leaders couldn't hear his speech because of audio issues.
Trump said in a new Truth Social post that the UN Secretary General should investigate the "very sinister" events leading up to his speech. He also called on those who committed the acts to be arrested.
"This was absolutely sabotage, as noted by a day’s earlier 'post' in The London Times that said UN workers 'joked about turning off an escalator,'" Trump wrote. "The people that did it should be arrested!"
"This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage at the UN," Trump continued. "They ought to be ashamed of themselves. I’m sending a copy of this letter to the Secretary General, and I demand an immediate investigation. No wonder the United Nations hasn’t been able to do the job that they were put in existence to do."
