President Donald Trump heaped bizarre praise on one of his female staffers during his speech in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday night.
Trump traveled to Pennsylvania to talk about how his administration is addressing the concerns many Americans have about the cost of living. The speech occurred at a time when Democrats are running successful election campaigns focused on affordability. Trump said during the event that Republicans are also calling on him to get more involved in the 2026 midterm elections.
During the speech, Trump introduced several administration officials in attendance, like Chief of Staff Suzie Wiles and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. But the comments he made toward Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt raised eyebrows.
"We even brought our superstar today. Karoline!" Trump said during the speech. "Isn't she great? When she goes on television, like Fox [News], they dominate. They don't stop, those little lips. They're like a machine gun, they go pop-pop-pop."
This isn't the first time Trump has made questionable remarks about his female staffers. During his first administration, ELLE reported that he required his female staffers to "dress like women."
In October, Trump made similar comments about Leavitt's appearance in a rant about how he would never replace her, according to The Independent.
"She's got no fear," Trump said on Tuesday night. "That's because we have the right policies."
