On Monday, President Donald Trump defended his profanity-laced threat he issued on Easter Sunday, a threat that baffled onlookers after he praised Allah and demanded that Iran “open the F----- Strait.”
“Why did you use such vulgar language in that Truth Social post?” a reporter asked Trump, who was taking questions during the White House’s 2026 Easter Egg Roll event.
“Only to make my point,” Trump said. “I think you’ve heard it before.”
Trump’s vulgar threat was issued amid the president’s Tuesday deadline for Iran to re-open the Strait of Hormuz – a critical shipping waterway – to U.S.-aligned vessels, or face a large-scale attack on its civilian infrastructure. Trump’s threat being issued on Easter Sunday – with the president skipping Easter service in lieu of taking a “bizarre tour” of Washington, D.C. – also stunned critics.
