'Ridiculous': Analyst spots gaping hole in Trumpworld attack on Harris
August 14, 2024
A political analyst on Wednesday highlighted what he sees as a critical problem with Trumpworld's complaints that Vice President Kamala Harris isn't giving enough time to the press.
Actually, political affairs analyst David Rothkopf found many instances.
"The argument that Harris is somehow not speaking enough to the press is ridiculous on several levels," Rothkopf wrote on X Wednesday. "Harris is transparent, honest, on the record and available to the press and the public."
Rothkopf, who hosts the podcast "Deep State Radio" is on the USA Today Board of Contributors, argues Harris' transparency is proven by her regular public addresses that include concise descriptions of policy goals, that there isn't really an outstanding question Harris has failed to answer, and that she has an open record of public service.
The same cannot be said of former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee and convicted felon on charges of fraud, Rothkopf argues.
"Her opponent is actually not campaigning, is primarily speaking to patsies in the press when he does speak to the media, and lies constantly so it doesn't matter what he is asked because he won't answer truthfully," Rothkopf writes. "The big question looming over campaign 2024 is about her opponent's unfitness for office. That's what the press should be asking about."

Trump's attempts to cast Harris as a shady character hiding from public view reflect the very same accusations the former president is trying to duck, Rothkopf argues.
The analyst points to documents he said the voting public has a right to see but have so far been withheld.
"If [Trump] really believed in transparency he would have provided independent doctor's assessments of the wounds sustained during the assassination attempt," writes Rothkopf. "He would have released his taxes, he would not object to live fact-checking during his interviews or during debates."
Roth ultimately compares Trump's transparency to Harris' and finds the former president wanting.
"Trump is a liar who avoids real journalists and has managed to persuade the media not to ask him about what matters -- like his mental unfitness," Rothkopf concludes. "So...c'mon. You want the truth about this campaign? She's not the problem. Trump is."
