President Donald Trump again disputed Russian election meddling, and he sounded like Vladimir Putin doing it.
Trump tweeted Friday afternoon that "Democrat crazies" had lost a lawsuit related to election hacking, and agreed with Putin that the Democratic Party was using that as an excuse for their 2016 loss.
A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit Tuesday alleging that Trump's campaign and former adviser Roger Stone conspired with Russia and WikiLeaks to circulate stolen DNC emails ahead of the 2016 election.
U.S. District Court Judge Ellen Huvelle found the plaintiffs -- former DNC staffer Scott Comer and two party donors, Roy Cockrum and Eric Schoenberg -- had not filed the suit in the proper jurisdiction, and they may refile in the proper court.
Trump has repeatedly disputed the widespread agreement by U.S. intelligence and law enforcement that the Kremlin directed the Democratic National Committee hacks to hurt Hillary Clinton's election chances.
"They want to explain to themselves and prove to others that they had nothing to do with it, their policy was right, they have done everything well, but someone from the outside cheated them,” Putin told France's Le Figaro. “It’s not so. They simply lost, and they must acknowledge it.”
“[The] people who lost the vote hate to acknowledge that they indeed lost because the person who won was closer to the people and had a better understanding of what people wanted,” Putin said.
