Donald Trump was told by a jury that he owes more than $80 million for his defamatory statements against columnist E. Jean Carroll, who was found by other jurors to have been sexually assaulted by the former president, and it sent the ex-president's supporters into a major meltdown.
While Trump's own niece celebrated the massive judgment, Team Trump struck a different tone on Friday night.
GOP lawmaker from Colorado Lauren Boebert called the verdict itself "unbelievable."

"An $83,000,000 judgement given to a woman who can’t even tell you the date or time she encountered President Trump," she wrote. "The precedent this sets for men in this country is absolute terrifying. It is truly unbelievable how weaponized our system of 'justice' has become."
Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican who represents Georgia, echoed that message.
"So unbelievably outrageous!" she said on Friday.
"E Jean Carroll not getting a cent of that," said conservative gadfly Jack Posobiec.
Conservative columnist Kurt Schlichter said the Carroll trial "is a farce and a disgrace and conservatives who dislike Trump need to not cheer on or excuse this disgraceful lawfare."
"Trump is not at fault when framed," he wrote. "Stop helping the left."
In a follow-up post, Schlichter said he's a lawyer with multi-million dollar defamation wins "on both defense and plaintiff's side." He added that this case "stinks."
Former Donald Trump physician and current Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) seemed distressed.
"THIS IS NOT AMERICA! Our legal system is being used as a WEAPON against patriotic Americans. First they come for Trump, then they come for ALL OF US! The ONLY way to stop this is getting Trump BACK in White House," he wrote Friday. "VOTE FOR TRUMP LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!!"
